A Small-Group, Immersive Horsemanship Experience in Southern Iowa
The Personal Progress Program (P3) is a focused, immersive horsemanship experience designed for riders who want thoughtful, personalized coaching without the pressure or cost of a traditional private lesson or large clinic.
P3 takes place at Whispering Woods Haven, my home and working horse property in southern Iowa. You and your horse are welcomed into a calm, intentional learning environment where progress is guided, unrushed, and centered on understanding rather than performance or the clock.
This is not a clinic.
It is not a private lesson.
It is something in between—and for many riders, exactly what they’ve been looking for.
P3 allows you to work on what you and your horse need most, while also benefiting from observing other horse-and-human partnerships and asking questions along the way. Learning happens through direct coaching, discussion, observation, and reflection—because horsemanship is as much about awareness as it is about technique.
Group size is intentionally small.
• Beginners are limited to two participants at a time
• Intermediate to advanced riders are limited to three participants
This structure allows for individualized guidance while still creating space to learn from the process unfolding around you.

What a Day in P3 Looks Like
Our mornings typically begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude no later than 1:00 p.m.
We start without horses, grounding the day with a thoughtful discussion around theory, mindset, and the “why” behind what we do. From there, we move into hands-on work in the arena, covering both groundwork and riding as appropriate for each participant.
You will also have the opportunity to observe and ask questions as I continue developing my own horses. Watching real, ongoing training—rather than polished demonstrations—is an important part of how learning deepens here.
Afternoons are intentionally unstructured. Many guests choose to rest, reflect, or explore the surrounding area. Others quietly continue working with their horses using the arena, round pen, or grassy areas for hand grazing and relaxation. I simply encourage you to keep things light—morning sessions can be mentally demanding, and honoring your horse’s processing time matters.
The Setting
Whispering Woods Haven offers a peaceful, working-horse environment with:
A 100’ x 150’ outdoor arena
A large round pen
Rolling hills and challenging obstacles
Opportunities for trail riding, weather permitting
We do not yet have an indoor facility, so flexibility is part of the agreement we make with one another. If weather prevents riding, we will reschedule. I do not take deposits for this reason and ask instead for mutual respect and commitment to making the time work.
When you are not with your horse, you’ll find plenty to enjoy nearby. The historic town of Pella, Lake Red Rock, Lake Rathbun, and the Des Moines area are all within easy driving distance and offer great opportunities for rest, exploration, and good food.
Horse & Human Care Expectations
Whispering Woods Haven is run entirely by my husband and me. It is a labor of love, and it operates smoothly because everyone participates responsibly.
Guests are expected to care for themselves and their horses during their stay, including:
Feeding and watering their horses
Cleaning paddocks twice daily
Bringing their own hay, feed, and buckets
Outdoor paddocks with shelter and water are provided at no additional cost. Manure forks and wheelbarrows are available for your use.
For the safety of everyone—human and canine—please do not bring dogs. Our dogs live freely on the property and are not always comfortable with visiting dogs.
Lodging Options
On-site camping is available and includes access to power hookups, a full bathroom, refrigerator, and microwave.
On-site camping: $10 per night
Room and bathroom in the house: $45 per night
Hotels are also available in Knoxville, Albia, and Pella, all within about 20 minutes.
Investment
$200 per day
There are no additional arena or boarding fees.
Payment is due upon arrival, along with a completed Hold Harmless Agreement.
Is P3 Right for You?
P3 is ideal for riders who:
Want to deepen connection, clarity, and confidence
Value thoughtful discussion as much as hands-on practice
Are willing to be curious, reflective, and engaged
Prefer a calm, intentional learning environment over spectacle
If you are looking for quick fixes, rigid formulas, or constant direction, this may not be the right fit. If you are interested in developing skill, feel, and understanding that lasts, P3 offers space for meaningful progress.
Please confirm dates with me before scheduling. Because of weather and small group sizes, flexibility and communication are essential
I am grateful for the opportunity to share my home, my horses, and my experience with you, and I look forward to welcoming you to Whispering Woods Haven.
